Introduction To Positive Behaviour Support training
PBS is a person centred framework for providing long term support to people with a learning difficulty and/or autism, including those with mental health conditions, who have, or may be at risk of developing behaviours that challenge.
Behaviour happens for a reason and serves an important function for people. By understanding why individuals display behaviours that challenge, steps can be taken to understand what triggers the behaviour. Support can be given to develop alternatives to the behaviour and changes made to problematic environments.
PBS challenges the use of restrictive practices and is based on the fundamental values of recognising individuality and human rights.
