Reducing Exclusions: The Inclusive School

This programme aims to help school leaders better understand the excluded cohort and how they can support them. It also looks at ways to reduce suspensions and exclusions, along with suitable alternative solutions, and create more inclusive classrooms.

Staff will learn how to identify the pupils most at risk of emotionally-based school avoidance (a session we also run for parents and carers), the impact of suspensions and exclusions, the way trauma can affect students and the school, and more. Delivered by experienced trainers, the programme empowers staff with practical strategies they can use to create safer and more inclusive classrooms. You’ll also get tips and advice on how to develop a whole school approach to minimise exclusions and create an action plan for the future.

To keep costs down, schools are grouped into five cohorts and training can either be delivered through a series of virtual sessions or via a half-day in-person with the senior leadership team.
